About us

The company was formed in Toulouse in 1986, with the objectives of providing painting and sealing services for both production aircraft and operational aircraft undergoing maintenance.

In 2001, STTS acquired AirPaint at Le Bourget, Paris, a specialist business for the re-painting of VIP aircraft. In the same year a joint venture was set up with Air France Industries to operate their paint facility for long range aircraft.

Since 2003, substantial investment in new facilities has seen the turnover of the company increase five-fold:

A new business, STSA, was created in Seville, Spain, in 2004,primarily to serve the Airbus Military Company. STSA provides aircraft painting for the Final Assembly Line of the A400M. This new built state-of-the-art facility also paints aircraft up to A330 size for airline operators.

An operation was set up in 2004 in Marignane, France, within the Eurocopter facilities, to paint new production helicopters for the OEM. This scope of this operation was extended in 2008 to the operation of 6 helicopter spray booths.

A new A320 painting facility was opened in Toulouse in 2005, and supplemented in 2010 by the opening of one of the world’s most advanced facilities,

specifically designed to paint new Airbus long-range aircraft, including A350 and A380 types.

A new facility is currently under construction in Lelystad, The Netherlands, to provide a specialist re-painting service for corporate and regional operators.

Since 2007, STTS has also expanded its geographic coverage with subsidiaries set up in the UK, China and Germany:

STTS UK in Broughton operate within the Airbus UK wing production facility, painting all narrow-body wing sets.

In Hamburg, Germany, STTS is responsible for application of the fuselage protection process on all Airbus production lines.

In Tianjin, China, STTS operates the paint shop on the A320 production line.

In total, over Euro 60m has been invested in new painting facilities since 2004.
